[FIXED] VST Crashing with Mac in 0.71

Post by nesbit » Thu Jul 04, 2013 6:44 am

Hey all,
I am trying to load up any vst in giada, but it crashes whenever I close out of my VST window. I have tried Sylenth1, Rhino, VB-1, and Drum Core. All of theses crash when I try exiting the VST window. Any help/ recommendations?
Thanks,
Nesbit
EDIT:
Giada .71
Mac 10.6.8

Hi Nesbit, you should run Giada from the command line and paste here the debug output.

How to do that: go to Application/Utiilties and doble click on Terminal. Then change directory to where Giada app is located and run it with

Code: Select all

./giada.app/Contents/MacOS/giada_osx
Copy everything you see on the terminal and paste it here on the board.

I hope those are the right paths, I'm on Ubuntu right now!

Here's the error code:

Code: Select all

$ /Applications/giada.app/Contents/MacOS/giada_osx

  3) ma++ ingalls for Cycling '74: Soundflower (16ch)

RtApiCore::getDeviceInfo: system error (CoreAudio unknown error) getting sample rate info.

  4) Apple Inc.: Aggregate Device
[KA] latency = 15
[pluginHost] buffers allocated, buffersize = 2048
[mixer] channel index=0 added, type=2, total=1
[plugin] entryPoint found
[plugin] magic number OK
[pluginHost] plugin id=0 loaded (VB-1), stack type=2, stack size=1
Bus error
I launched it using the code you said. Another easy way to find the path is in the crash reports.
Thanks!!!

EDIT:
Is this crashing because the VST sample rate is not equal to the sample rate that is set in the config of giada???

I think not, because the VST seems to be loaded successfully:

Code: Select all

[plugin] entryPoint found
[plugin] magic number OK
[pluginHost] plugin id=0 loaded (VB-1), stack type=2, stack size=1 <--------------- plugin is OK
That 'Bus error' shows up as soon as you open the GUI, right?

Its when I open the VST GUI, or when I exit out of the VST window. It varies. However, it usually happens when I exit out of the VST GUI or the VST manager window

Yep, the cause seems to be a very old and unusual code for the GUI part. We are trying to pull out some information from Audacity, they surely did a better work. Feedback soon!
