fast waveform UI controls
Haven't got exact functionality in mind here or anything, but just some ui functions to make slicing and editing faster and easier - mousewheel to scroll, ctrl+mousewheel to zoom in and out, maybe even alt/shift+mousewheel to scrub start and end points? Very mouse-wheel oriented though. Maybe ctrl+lmb+drag to scroll, shift+lmb+drag to zoom? My inspiration here isn't an audio program at all, but Autodesk Maya - they somehow made using an X-Y limited input device to navigate X-Y-Z space surprisingly intuitive.
...as always, feel free to smack me down if I've missed something obvious.

Yep, we are working in that direction: maybe you have already noticed the zoom driven by the mouse wheel. Good suggestions by the way, filed under "sample editor improvements".they somehow made using an X-Y limited input device to navigate X-Y-Z space surprisingly intuitive

That's what made me think of it, actually. I initially found it a little unresponsive which sparked the post, but it's worked fine every time since then - I think the usb mouse on my laptop is the problem
