when you open the sample editor and start tweaking a sample it'd be great to have a 'test' button on the window somewhere so that you could listen to the changes you are making without having to set up a looping pattern first, or click out of the window on the trigger box in the main window? Or, if the window didn't grab control of keyboard while open UNTIL you click into one of the fields maybe, so you could use they key assigned to the sample instead? You could still click the text fields to edit them, and maybe press enter to accept the value, or click out of the field again. Admittedly, this is only really appropriate for one-shot samples, so maybe the 'test' button is more flexible.
...as always, feel free to smack me down if I've missed something obvious.

Totally agree. If I remember correctly all key events are forced to the main window, but they can be somehow redirected to the editor when its window is up. OR what about a traditional "preview" button?
