Live recording sample offset problem

Post by dullahan8888 » Mon Nov 04, 2013 5:58 am

I'm trying to use Giada as a looper for sounds I record live. However, it seems that whatever I record ends up being shifted a bit and plays too late. For example, if I record myself beatboxing with the metronome to stay in time, the recording that is then played does not line up with the metronome (it is late). Likewise, if I try to record myself singing over the aforementioned beatboxing sample, when I stop recording and play it, the two samples don't line up.

I think the solution is editing the Rec delay comp in the configuration menu, but I can't seem to figure out how it works or what it does.
Or might it just be that my computer is too slow so it ends up recording things late?

What can I do to fix this problem?

The Rec delay comp(ensation) might be what you are looking for. It's just a little delay put into your recording in order to match the output buffer latency.
Start with small values like 50, 100, 200 - we are working with frames here, not milliseconds - and then increase those numbers until you find something that works.

I also suggest to lower the buffer size, it might help... Keep us updated!

I'm having the exact same problem. Lowering my buffer size helped, but I've still got an uncomfortable amount of delay. A delay compensator would be absolutely ideal - is it still a feature? I can't find it anywhere, it looks like where it is for other people I have a decibel threshold for recording. Did they remove it?
