Will Giada work with a MIDI keyboard?

Post by SpindlesTheRaspberry » Thu Oct 08, 2015 8:27 pm

I don't want to use a MIDI keyboard to do input, but I have a Korg NanoKey2 lying around which I thought I could use to activate the play and record buttons.

However, it doesn't seem to be working.

I have tried to use the steps described in the documentation to assign a function to the keys, however when click learn and press a key, nothing happens.

I know nothing about MIDI, but I suspect this is something to do with note signals being different from the function signals I need?

Basically I'm asking whether what I'm trying to do is possible or not, and if it is possible, what am I doing wrong?

Hello SpindlesTheRaspberry,

Yes you can! Just make sure that

a) your Korg NanoKey2 emits MIDI messages properly (yeah, that's pretty obvious), and
b) Giada is configured for reading MIDI inputs.

For b) check out the docs here, MIDI section. You have to choose the right MIDI system and a MIDI input port in order to make it work.
