Is Giada a tool that would allow me to do this type of thing?

I've had a brief play around but it seems like it's not intended for "live" looping like in the clip

Re: Live looping?
hi asktoby,
Yes you can, with the "Live Sampling" feature. More info here: https://giadamusic.com/documentation-live-sampling
Note that we are working on improving the live looping experience, so I guess something will change (for the better!) in the near future.

Re: Live looping?
Thanks for replying!
I've read that page but I can't really figure it out still. If you're working on the feature I'll come back in a year and check again.
I think there aren't any decent free live looping programs on the internet so you could own the market!

Re: Live looping?
Ok so I want to try out live looping. I'll play the drums, followed immediately by the vocals, let's say. Here's what I understand I need to do:
- Create 2 channels: drums and vocals. Both in "loop basic" mode.
- Arm the drums, start recording.
- Stop recording, arm vocals, start recording again (takes too long to do! a one button alternative?)
Since it's impossible to do this third step in an instant, I have to let the drums go one full cycle before I can start my vocals. Is that really the case? If so, this is a major limitation for live looping. I should be able to press one button to move on to the next instrument, while the recording that this button also stopped is playing in the background.
An alternative would be to have only one channel, which would be fine, since it keeps recording additively on it as we cycle. However, to start listening to it you have to stop recording. Is there a way to listen to what's already in the channel as we are recording onto it additively?
To put it another way, could she use Giada to do this?: https://www.instagram.com/p/B_3aHI3JZIb/

Re: Live looping?
Hi alanic, thanks for reporting! yes, we are aware of the current live looping limitations: this is something we "added" back then when the concept of armed channels was first introduced. There are two important upcoming changes on this side:
* https://github.com/monocasual/giada/issues/224
* https://github.com/monocasual/giada/issues/216
In other words, the whole live looping experience will be simplified in the next release (0.16.4). Feel free to report additional weirdness you may find along the way

Re: Live looping?
Both of those issues are closed now so it looks like a good time to try again?

Re: Live looping?
Just twigged that it's fixed in the code but hasn't made it into a release yet.
I'll try once there's a new release after Talisman.

Re: Live looping?
This is correct, judging from a recent activity on a github page I think that a new release is coming very soon. I suggest following Giada on Facebook to get notified of a new release.
